Colleges and universities are unlikely to become entirely a “thing of the past” due to AI, but they are facing a major, necessary evolution that will render many traditional, non-adaptive institutions obsolete. Rather than erasing universities, AI is expected to force a transformation where institutions that fail to integrate AI and provide tangible, high-level skill formation—combining human mentorship with AI efficiency—will fail.
